Frequently Asked Questions
- What are equities?
Equity means ownership. In a financial context, equities represent an ownership stake in a company, usually in the form of publicly traded shares or stock.
- Why invest in equities?
We believe investing in publicly traded companies is one of the most effective ways of creating and maintaining wealth. Unlike most investments, companies can create value by creating new products and services, expanding into new markets, acquiring other businesses, and improving profitability. Other benefits of share ownership can include income from dividends, liquidity, diversification, and the potential for capital appreciation.
- What are Separately Managed Accounts?
Separately Managed Accounts (SMAs) are personalized portfolios of assets. Unlike mutual funds or index funds, these individualized products allow managers to customize portfolios for each and every client.

Our firm measures ESG efforts and risks to identify and manage potential risks to clients' portfolios. We generally avoid or minimize investments in industries such as: Tobacco, corrections facilities developers and operators, recreational firearms, fossil fuels production and exploration, gambling, businesses with human rights abuses and violations, or industries which produce severe environmental damage. We believe avoiding or minimizing exposure to these industries is an effective way to improve long-term returns and create positive impact in our world.
